Ok, so I don't even know where to begin. I have fallen off the face of the blogging world for like, oh, 6 months! I totally made a new year's resolution to update my blog once a week, as well as many others things, and well, yeah... you know how that goes. SO, I will make a quick run through of my life's events over the past several months. I cannot believe June is almost OVER!
(Sigh).
I guess I will start with February. Which consists of nothing. So moving on--
March:
March is bittersweet for me. Basketball season is wrapping up (which means I get my man back!), but at the same time I love watching Travis play basketball. I think he is super hot in uniform. I even ask him to wear it around the house but he won't do it. Eh, oh well ;) Overall, they ended up 24-10. His team got 1st in their conference in regular season play, which was really exciting!
When I realized they were going to cut the net down I stormed the court like a mad woman. But hey, I got a good shot :)
At the end of the season, the conference teams play in an end-of-the season tournament that gets you a bid to the Big Dance if you win the championship. We absolutely dominated in the first game, which by the way my dad showed up OUT OF NO WHERE, and totally surprised me! I had to do a double take. We hadn't had that much fun in a long time! EXCEPT for when one of the dealers at the casino just had to ask me if me and my dad were married. That always gives my dad a good chuckle because he knows how much I HATE that. Ugh. Anyway, the next night we lost to Akron in the finals (who had a 7-foot monster), but we still got a bid to the NIT.
Me and Dad
Isn't this so cute?
Me and my seester-in-law
A few weeks prior to all that, Travis' mom, sister, and her three kiddos came and stayed with us over a long weekend. With only having small one-bedroom apartment, things can get a little crazy. But we love having company!
Freaking Cute
He has the touch.

April:
I dyed my very first set of Easter eggs, NBD.
Also ran in my first mud run with some of my girlfriends. It was a blast!
Since Travis and I also started biking together, he really knows how to bribe me to go on a ride when I really don't wanna go....
Ahhhh...he knows the way to my heart :) (He as in Travis, not the horse lol)

May:
May consisted of our summer vacation, the end of the semester (woo woo!), and a milestone of my pathetic running abilities.
We decided to go home the first week and half of May. It was either that or not get a vacation at all because school, work, and basketball totally dictate our lives right now! We got pretty lucky, our immediate families live in the same town (about 5 minutes away from each other) and even the rest live in driving distance. Since we have been married, I think that it was the most fulfilling trip home we'd had. And by fulfilling I mean being able to eat at every local restaurant that I grew up eating at that no where else in the country can even compare to. I.e. Andy's, Korean Garden, Pineapple whip, Mexican Villa, Cookey's. Ha ha JK. But, anyone who has eaten at any of those places can understand.
Both of our families have farms. I love being able to put on my cowgirl boots and sort of pretend I'm at least a little bit country? We have so much fun being outside fishing, riding four-wheelers, checking the cows, and learning to drive a stick-shift. Ok, that last part isn't very fun. You can just ask Travis ;)
Sportin' Pa's farm boots. I think he might need a new pair...
I wish I could edit his evil eyes, he was the cutest thing ever! His 3 other little friends wanted nothing to do with me though :(
We stood in a field with about 20 more of these. They get pretty curious and like play to chicken. Let's just say I lost. every. time.
If anyone wants a cat, They're FREE. This picture doesn't even do it justice for how many there are.
I went fishing in that one week more than I have in my whole life. I think this was the only time I smiled.
This is my Granny, and she's amazing.
The last part of our trip consisted of me running (if you even want to call it that) in the Bass Pro half marathon. I had trained off and on since February. **Caution: DO NOT TAKE A HALF MARATHON LIGHTLY. I thought I was in pretty good shape, but no, my legs told me otherwise. And never ever never never will I ever stuff my face at Texas Roadhouse the night before a race, either. I'm tellin' ya, I really need to work on that whole food thing... On a lighter note, I got to run the first 4 miles with my high school volleyball coach, whom I truly admire. If it wasn't for her, I don't think I would have had an opportunity to play college volleyball. She taught me true character and to always work hard and be true to myself (we had of plenty boy talks back in the day). She is an amazing coach and friend, and she totally kicked my butt in the race! But it was so good to see her!
My goal was to just kick butt and never have to do one ever again, but I can't live with the time that I got or the sucky feeling I had afterwards, I left with a horrible taste in my mouth. So, hopefully I will get around to another one next year!
Oh, and Happy Cinco de Mayo!

June:
June definitely did not start on the right foot--literally. I actually broke my foot, technically my ankle. Travis and I have gotten into road biking in the last couple of months. We LOVE it. We have gotten to explore so much of the beautiful country here from biking on the back roads. One of the down sides to that though is a lot of people around here have dogs, and they let them run loose. We have had a few close calls, until a few weeks ago I wasn't so lucky. A dog actually ran right into my bike and I totally busted my butt. It was probably the scariest moment of my life. I had tons of road rash and scrapes. When Travis helped me up was when I realized how bad my ankle hurrrrrt. I thought I only sprained it because it never got terribly swollen and I was able to limp on it. So after about a week when it wasn't feeling like a normal sprained ankle I got an XR (upside to working for a sports medicine doctor) and found out I broke a piece of bone off the end of my fibula bone, which is also considered your ankle bone. Soooo...there goes my summer. But I feel so fortunate that it wasn't way worse. But ugh, really?!?!
HOT.
So for a while Travis will be ridin' solo. In fact, I got some sweet pics of Travis riding the other day. Photo credit by our friend Mike!
Awesome, huh?!
Ok, next up..I got to meet Bambi, and I am in love! Ok, her real name is Hope, because they said they "hope" she lives.... ha ha. She was only 4 days old!
Close up so you can soak up all its cuteness.
I swear I'm almost done with this! June 13th was Travis' birthday, and he turned 25! We even had a birthday party, a birthday party that consisted of just me and him, ha ha. I actually made him a cake this year. Even though it looks legit, it totally wasn't. In fact, we just licked off the icing and dumped the cake in the trash. But hey, it saved us from all the calories and fat we don't need!
Seriously, I freak out when I see food. Prime example...
Last but not least, yesterday we got released from our church callings as primary teachers. One of the biggest blessings in our lives. We love each and every one of them. They would crack us up every second we were with them. So precious!
It's the end of June and I finally had the time to lay out for the first time. I need to catch up to Travis, he makes me look like a ghost!

So fun! Looks like you guys are staying busy and living the life! :-) hope ur ankle heals quickly!! I totally laughed out loud about the bday cake. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lizzie! I wish we could have hung out when we were home :(
